Utzurrum: ‘Alice’ and ‘Outcast,’ Balletcenter gems

The Scene

BALLETCENTER is at it again! Two best-loved fairy tales set to music, will be brought to life by Balletcenter Cebu this weekend: “Alice in Wonderland” and “Outcast.” Playdates: Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug.10 at Ayala Center Cebu, Cinema One, 6:30 p.m.

The event, headlined as “Summer Spectacular 2019,” will have artistic director Gregory Aaron choreographing “Alice in Wonderland,” a fun-filled ballet for the whole family. Interestingly, Aaron performed the role of the March Hare as a student at the prestigious Houston Ballet Academy. In 1993, he choreographed his version for the Atlanta Festival Ballet. Families will definitely relate with the familiar characters: Alice, the White Rabbit, Hedgehog, Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Knave of Hearts, The March Hare etc. Meet and greet them all!

Meanwhile, “Outcast” illustrates the trials of living and loving during the oppression of World War II; an unforgettable premiere of a Neo-classic ballet. The choreography is by artistic director Nicolas Pacaña.

Tickets are at P500, P300 and P200. For reservations, please call Balletcenter at 232-2958. This presentation is supported by valued sponsors: Ayala Malls, Pacific Audio Video, FF Sibi Printing and Lapiz Lazuli.

Let the dance begin!
