BAGUIO City Mayor Benjie Magalong assured the closure of Session Road this Sunday, August 11, after blotched plans over the weekend which caused confusion and disappointment.

Magalong backtracked on announcements to close one lane of the main road, August 4, after admitting concerns will have to be ironed out before implementing the supposed month-long experimental traffic scheme.

On Monday, August 6, the mayor said glitches in the experimental scheme have been ironed out and will have the necessary paperwork from the city council and administrative order from his office.

The one-month experiment aims to test the viability of pedestrianizing Session Road as well as the improvement on air quality if no vehicles ply the upward lane of the American inspired main road of the city.

Magalong said there is no opposition from the Session Road businessmen association and stressed reclaiming of sidewalks will be done all over the city to give more chances for people to freely walk around and enjoy the city.

The experiment will last a month and will then decide on pedestrianizing Session with the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the Traffic Management Team of the city.

The experimental scheme will start August 11 from six in the morning until nine in the evening from the road going up the Development Bank of the Philippines at the Mercury Drug atop Session road.

Session Road and Mabini intersection will be the only street that will be open to traffic for vehicles from General Luna Street exiting to Harrison road.
