Kidapawan, Panabo teams rule Kadayawan karatedo tourney

KIDAPAWAN City and Panabo City teams ruled the just-concluded 34th Kadayawan Sports Festival Karatedo Invitational Tournament held at NCCC Mall Buhangin in Davao City.

Kidapawan team, coached by Gelo Garcia, bagged two gold medals and two silvers to emerge overall seniors division champion while the Edilberto Flores-mentored Davao Central College got one gold and four silvers for second place. Davao City, under Bern Rexander Tacay, finished third with one gold, one silver and one bronze.

In the boys and girls divisions, Panabo City harvested 10 golds, five silvers and seven bronzes to nail the overall crown. Noel Aguilar coached the Panabo bets who prevailed over Antipas, North Cotabato, which collected 10 golds, five silvers and one bronze. Davao City settled for third after hauling six golds, six silvers and four bronzes.

The two-day karatefest, which featured different kata and kumite categories, awarded trophies for champions, silvers for runners-up and bronzes for third placers. The top three team winners, meanwhile, received cash prizes of P6,000, P4,000 and P3,000.

It was organized by the PSKAI-Takai Gijutsu School of Martial Arts in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office.

The event was also supported by the city government of Davao and Davao Electrical Sales.
