BACOLOR -- Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales is set to position the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gymnasium as a world-class sporting venue, fit to host not just intercollegiate sporting events but also national sporting competitions.
This, as Gonzales led a surprise inspection of the ongoing improvement plans for the gymnasium. The improvements, worth P30 million, include the refurbishing of the flooring of the gymnasium to comply with international sporting standards.
“There are ongoing improvements from the internal structure and ventilation,” Gonzales said, adding that the name of the state university will also appear prominently in the newly improved gymnasium.
President Enrique Baking accompanied Gonzales during the inspection and lauded the lawmaker’s efforts in improving the said facility. He added that the improvements will further boost the capacity of the facility to host prominent sporting events.
Gonzales, for one, is batting to host some of the games of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League inside the sporting facility when full renovations are completed.
The lawmaker said that plans are currently underway for the planned construction of dugouts for players as well as shower rooms and locker spaces.
“The real winners of these improvements are the students of DHVSU. The university must have facilities that fit its status as among the premier state universities in Central Luzon,” Gonzales added.
