SAN SIMON, Pampanga -- A two-storey six-classroom building in Sta. Monica High School designated for senior high school students was formally inaugurated yesterday morning.

Fourth district Rep. Juan Pablo Bondoc and Mayor Abundio Punsalan Jr. led the inauguration ceremony for the school building amounting to some P12 million.

Bondoc said the project is part of his family’s decades-long mission of providing quality education through construction of decent and conducive-for-learning facilities to youth of Pampanga’s fourth district.

“Ever since we entered public service from the time of my late father to me and my sister, we have embarked on the journey of establishing schools and constructing classrooms because we have always believed education is the best gift we can give not only to our children, but also to the parents and the whole community,” he said.

Bondoc disclosed that it was his sister, former Congresswoman Anna York Bondoc, who pushed for the opening of a Sta. Monica High School back in 2007 in response to the growing number of students in the area.

“Cong. Anna opened this public school to provide quality education to the youth nearby, especially indigents who are most in need of this and we will never stop assisting them as they develop their community and upgrade the level of learning they wanted to provide our children,” he said.

Punsalan, for his part, cited the importance of continuously developing the education sector and ensuring that all children, including indigent and marginalized, can avail of quality education.

“I am a testament of how important education is because I came from a poor family and education is the only thing that my parents were able to give me, but it has done me more than enough and put me to where I am today,” he said.

Punsalan also extended gratitude to Bondoc for continuously pouring in projects that will help further develop this town, adding that the new school building is a big boost in achieving of his agenda to improve the quality of education delivered to every Simonian student.

Sta. Monica High School Principal Sharon Cariño, for her part, also gratified Bondoc for the continuous assistance given to the school community.

Aside from the new school building, the school facade and wash and cook area were also inaugurated, while officials of Parents-Teachers Association also took their oath of office before Punsalan.
