ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Wednesday, August 7, a memorandum order to all concerned village chiefs and officials in the metropolis to comply with road clearing and clean-up in their areas of responsibility.
He reiterated the compliance with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular 2019-121, which was issued by DILG Secretary Eduardo Año pursuant to President Rodrigo Duterte's directive during his State of the Nation Address (Sona) last July.
"You are hereby directed to undertake all necessary measures and actions to implement the clearing of public roads of all illegal structures and constructions with 60 days and maintain cleanliness of all recovered public roads in your respective jurisdictions," Treñas said.
"Please be reminded that as per DILG MC 2019-121, non-compliance would result in the filing of appropriate administrative cases shall be filed pursuant to Section 60 (c) of the Local Government Code of 1991 and other existing laws and policies. For strict compliance," he added.
The mayor also earlier asked residents to voluntarily remove illegal structures in the streets amid the continuing clearing operations. (PR)
