Road closure schedule bared

IN LINE with the celebration of the 34th Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival, some major streets in the city will undergo temporary road closure to vehicular traffic.

On Tuesday, the Davao City Council approved the road closure, as requested by the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO).

For the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan street dance competition, the area of the Kadayawan Square along San Pedro Street will be partially closed from August 13, 8 p.m. until 12 midnight of August 16, while it will be fully closed on August 17, starting at 2 a.m.

The area coverage of the road closure will be from Roxas Avenue left turn to C.M. Recto Avenue then right turn to Bonifacio Street, left turn to Pelayo Street, then another left turn to San Pedro Street.

While for the Pamulak sa Kadayawan floral float parade, the area of the Kadayawan Square at San Pedro Street will be partially closed from August 21, 5 p.m. until 12 midnight of August 23, while it will be fully closed on August 24, starting at 12 midnight.

The area coverage of the road closure will be similar to that of Indak-Indak.

As for the Tambayayong Sa Kadayawan, full road closure will be implemented on August 24, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the San Pedro Square in Rizal Park.

A. Pichon Street, formerly Magallanes Street, and City Hall Drive-Magallanes and Bolton streets, going to San Pedro and C.M. Recto streets, and Rizal and Anda streets going to San Pedro Street will also be closed.

Along with the celebration, tight security measures will be implemented, as the City Council approved on Tuesday, a resolution declaring San Pedro Square as a "maximum security zone".

The San Pedro Square covers Jaltan-Pichon Street also known as A. Pichon Street going to Bonifacio Monument Rotonda, C.M. Recto Street to corner Rizal Extension, Rizal Extension to corner C. Bangoy, C. Bangoy to corner San Pedro Street, San Pedro Street to corner City Hall Drive, and City Hall Drive to corner Pichon Street.

Meanwhile, this year, two of the highlight events of Kadayawan - Indak-Indak and Pamulak - will now be celebrated in a separate weekend.

Indak-Indak will be on August 17 while the Pamulak will be on August 24.
