Buguias opens new league

FOLLOWING in the footsteps of the first Benguet Basketball League, the municipality of Buguias recently launched its first basketball tourney for enthusiasts of the town.

Dubbed as the Mayor Felecio Bayacsan Basketball Cup, the tournament was launched February 20 attracting nine teams from stakeholders of the municipality.

In the inaugural games, Baculongan Sur scored first blood with a 76-60 win over the Gueday Spartans even as the Bars edged the LBHC of Alex Tumpap, 51-57.

In the other opening games, Crossroad Pepsi bowed to Purina Ours, 49-48; Northern Hills dumped Provincial Public Safety management Company (PPSMC), 62-56;  PCYO losing to Gueday Spartans, 36-72.

Also winning in the opening games are Purina Ours nipping Baculongan Sur, 54-59; BARS scoring its second victory with a 66-56 thumping of PCI Joseph Bayongasan and PSI Greg Ammiyao’s PPSMC team.

The able team-up of the AMUSE (Abatan Music, Sports and Entertainment Group), Inc. led by Vee Damoslog – Caluten and the CBRA (Cordillera Basketball Referees Association) led by Bert Emiliano Jr. worked hand-in-hand with the Office of the Mayor and the Gov. Nestor Fongwan for the successful staging of the Buguias league.

Buguias sports enthusiasts had just concluded its 2010 PAN-AASPOAN Friendship Cup last Jan. 24 with Purina – Pepsi Team as the champion.
