I WAS filled with excitement knowing that I will be finally having a meal at Wildflour Cafe + Bakery in Salcedo Village, Makati City. Ever since I started blogging, friends have always told me that I should visit the cafe. Every time I visit the cafe’s social media accounts or read about it on food magazines, all the more I wanted to visit it.
I was hyped and excited as I exited the cab. The air was still cool at this hour and I forgot that this was Metro Manila. The crowd at the cafe was still light. There were a few diners already enjoying a cup of coffee with some kind of pastry on the side.
I entered the cafe and was greeted with a beautifully modern and rustic interior. I love the brown tones of the cafe and its wooden elements.
The cafe had an open kitchen but it was not smokey inside. Despite still being early in the morning, the cafe’s staff were quite busy. I also saw that the pastries and bread were already displayed on the counter; all looking delicious.
I looked around for my cousin, Tweety. I saw her seated at a comfortable corner table near the window. After setting my things down, we were then approached by one of the lovely staff who offered us a menu and then filled our water glasses. It is a shame that I forgot her name. But she was amazing and made our experience here really great.
The cafe has an extensive menu. Reading through it made me hungrier. Since it will still be a while before I visit again, I took my time in choosing what to eat. I just wanted to make sure that whatever we order, we will be happy with it.
We eventually made up our mind. For our breakfast here, we will be having Fried Chicken and Waffles (P630), Baked Fluffy Pancake (P380), Wildflour Breakfast with Bacon Steak (P525), Chocolate Chip Cookie (P95), and an Apple Danish (P120). My cousin also ordered their Hot Chocolate (P190) while I had Black Onyx Brewed Coffee (P130).
I loved the layers of texture you get from the Fried Chicken and Waffles. I love the crispiness from the fried chicken and then you have the fluffiness and softness from the scrambled eggs. I also love the combination of sweet and savory. I also love that the chicken was well seasoned and not dry. I wish it had more parmesan though. It was the only component of the dish that I find lacking but other than that, this was a good start to our meal.
I was excited to dig into the Wildflour Breakfast after it was served to us. The dish was priced at P495 but I added P30 to substitute the homemade breakfast sausage with bacon steak. On the plate were eggs, crispy potatoes, bread, and bacon steak. I enjoyed every bite of the Bacon Steak, which was flavorful and tender. The crispy potatoes were wonderfully seasoned. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Tweety and I were not expecting that the Baked Fluffy Pancake would be one big pancake good for two or three people. The pancake, which was served with lemon curd and mixed berry compote, was also another great dish that we ordered. It was fluffy and I liked that it was not very sweet.
Their chocolate cookie is one of the best I have had. I love that it was not very sweet. The Apple Danish was also good.
My cousin and I enjoyed the food we had here. On top of the delicious food we had here, the service was also really great. The staff taking care of us were phenomenal! I just love how attentive they were like they kept our water glasses filled and knew when to clear the plates at the right time. My Wildflour Cafe + Bakery experience was a memorable one and lived up to my expectations -- the food was great and the service was phenomenal. I hope to be back here soon.
