Dengue outbreak declaration eyed in 10 NegOcc areas

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said there is already a recommendation for 10 areas in Negros Occidental to declare a dengue outbreak.

Lacson said Thursday, August 8, he is leaving the decision to the local government units whether or not they can make the declaration.

Otherwise, Lacson said the Provincial Health Office (PHO) does not want to declare a province-wide outbreak as the number of cases is still not yet “in the level.”

Based on the latest data released by the PHO, they have recorded a total of 4,230 dengue-related cases in the province.

Kabankalan City and Murcia have already declared an outbreak, with the Kabankalan City government ordering the release of P4 million for the purchase of necessary medicines.
