Livelihood training held for slain cops, soldiers kin

SEVEN surviving family members of slain or wounded soldiers and policemen have undergone a three-day livelihood training at the Regional Training Center of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in Zamboanga City.

Bon Rafael Padayhag, Tesda regional information officer, said the seven beneficiaries have undergone training in various food processing techniques by the agency.

Padayhag said the training started Wednesday, August 7, and ended Friday, August 9.

He said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will train them in entrepreneurship while the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in financial literacy.

He added the training is in line with the government’s Comprehensive Social Benefit Program (CSBP), a provision of assistance directed by the Office of the President to personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) who have been killed or wounded in line of duty.

The program seeks to recognize the dedication and noble sacrifices of soldiers and policemen, and to raise the morale of their beneficiary families.

Padayhag said a total of 28 family survivors have benefited since 2018 from the CBT cluster of killed and wounded in action in military and police operation under the CSBP. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
