WHEN a brand listens to its customers, magic happens. The 2019 Isuzu D-Max Boondock Edition is proof of that. The Japanese automobile manufacturer took the classic D-Max and refashioned it based on input from several reputable car clubs in the country.

The 2019 D-Max Boondock accurately encapsulates what the country’s road conditions require from a vehicle, from highways to the off-the-beaten paths. Designed with this in mind, the Boondock edition of Isuzu’s truck comes with some neat upgrades.

With a set of all-terrain 17-inch wheels and 247 millimeters of ground clearance, the vehicle is able to traverse equally well both well-paved roads and the more rugged terrain. For improved steering control across different kinds of road conditions, the Boondock edition comes with a set of mono-tube nitrogen-filled shock absorbers.

The Boondock edition is designed to take on the roughest of terrains, so one can definitely bet on this one to bring on power. The Euro four-compliant 3.0L BluePower diesel engine puts out 174 horsepower and 380 Newton meters of torque. It is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Although the D-Max Boondock is all tough and robust on the outside, it’s slightly more refined and subdued on the inside. One will find an eight-inch, multi-information touchscreen display and leather-covered front and back seats. Passengers also have access to a CD/DVD player and AM/FM radio, as well as Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity.

With the Boondock, one need not worry about space for his next getaway. Aside from the generous legroom and head-space for the passengers, there’s also a wide cargo bed out back with an extender. You can also load items on top of the vehicle’s roof rails.

As expected, Isuzu equipped the Boondock edition with a solid line-up of safety features including dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist, Brake Override System, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and Reverse Sensors with Camera.

In Cebu, Isuzu has a dealership on A. Soriano Avenue, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City. (Photos from the internet/Carmudi)
