Kadayawan team tennis challenge opens

THE Kadayawan sa Dabaw Team Tennis Challenge unfurls at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 10, at the Ecoland Phase 4 Tennis Club Courts in Davao City.

Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) regional vice president Juanito “Titong” Cansino, Jr. said a must-watch in 50-above category is the collision between former Qatar Davis Cup team member and Philippine Tennis Academy coach

Cesarito “Boy” Diong and Saudi Arabia coach Renato “Butoy” Dela Cruz who will test the mettle of tandem former national player Jong Huraado of Koronadal South Cotabato and local pro Franklin Talamo.

He also said other exciting matches pit Araw ng Dabaw finalist Arnold Sarabia and Lando Ibarreta against brothers Renato and Rogelio Casal while Edgar Quinones and Roland Diamante drew a bye.

Former junior standout pair of Abet Dizon and Ricardo Amazona will also see action in the netfest that also features 30-above and 40-above categories.

The men’s open double is slated on August 17 and 18. Men’s open doubles entries include former junior standouts and UAAP and NCAA players.

The event is presented by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) along with Palawan Pawnshop, Upright Carrier and Distribution Inc., Cue Multi Trade Commercial Corporation, Secure Storage Services, Tesoro’s Printing Press, official ball Dunlop and Eco 4 Tennis Club, Inc.
