IT IS truly another great year of the “Tanabata Festival”! An opening ceremony was held at the Baguio Museum last August 4. Institutionalized in Baguio in July 23, 2012 through ordinance No. 66 and sponsored by Councilor Lourdes Tabanda, the Tanabata Festival is indeed something to look forward to each year, as a series of exciting events unfold.

Also revolving on the Filipino-Japanese Friendship on its 63rd year, Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, says it is the time to further nurture the relationship of the two countries. This year’s theme, “Silence for 250 Years: The Hidden Christians in Japan”, is inspired by Amakusa City and Kumamoto Perfecture as World Heritage and Hidden Christian Sites. A short program, an art and poster exhibit welcomed the afternoon.

Among other upcoming events, is the Cosplay Tanabata Festival that will be this August 17 and 18 at the Newtown Plaza Hotel.
