Boomerang: Performance Check

JUST a few weeks after the local leaders took their oaths of office, many of them immediately got their gears running. Much of the campaign period leading to the elections last May was riddled with a lot of promises to the people. Now, it’s time to keep those promises. Thus, many local leaders in the province as well as the cities and towns got themselves busy on the first few days of their terms this month—some even to the extent of publicizing each and every activity they involved themselves in. Many call them out as acts done merely to impress, but there are also those that are sincere with their intentions. How do our readers rate their local leaders so far?

I am satisfied, so far, with the performances of the newly elected leaders of my country. I have heard that some of their platforms are being executed gradually. —Darrel Justin Cruz, 22, co-owner (Freeflow clothing line)

Even though I have not yet felt any drastic changes, so far I am satisfied with the orderly governance of our newly elected local leaders. Change is progressive, so I positively believe that something big, in all aspects, is going to happen in our city. —Miko Angelo Balverde, 23, 5th placer, June 2019 Architects Licensure Examination

It has only been weeks since they’ve started their terms, so it is too early for me to say. However, I read in the news about their eagerness to solve the most pressing issues that our community is facing, although there are some plans that they talk about in media that might be ill thought of. —Al Matthew Yu, 20, business administration student (USC)

I can’t say a lot yet about the performance of our newly elected local leaders. I think it is still too early to say so because it has only been some weeks since they’ve assumed office. We will just have to wait and see—but be optimistic that they will deliver. —Manuel Siaotong, 23, architect
