Pampanga crop damage hits P14M



WEEK-LONG rains have brought P14,554,292 worth of crop damage to this year’s wet cropping season for palay, according to the report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

This as reports from various local government units reported flooding in different farm areas in Magalang (P332,184.80), Floridablanca (P461,300.48), Guagua (P1,069,115.04), Sta. Rita (P299,166.80), and San Simon (P2,396,640).

The towns of Apalit and Candaba sustained much of the damage at P5,780,360 and P4,215,525.60

Most towns in Pampanga’s 4th district remain flooded. Data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office said flooded barangays have gone to a total of 44 as of press time. Flooded areas include Apalit (two barangays), Masantol (22), and Macabebe (20).

The provincial government has activated and prepositioned its disaster response equipment and manpower 24-hour standby status.

Early this week, some 16,864 families or 67,881 individuals were affected by flooding in three provinces of Central Luzon, according to the data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Luzon.

As of 12 p.m., August 7, there are 8,678 affected families in the province of Bataan alone.
