Groom spot for that slick hairdo

Groom spot for that slick hairdo

GOOD grooming is vital in giving anyone not just appealing looks but also a boost of confidence. However, enjoying a decent grooming service, such as a haircut, could cost a lot for many.

There is a new barber shop in the heart of Mandaue City where gentlemen could avail themselves of a good-looking haircut at a not-so scathing price. Slick Street Barbers, near the corners of P. Burgos and F. Mendoza streets in Barangay Centro, has been drawing a lot of customers lately since it soft-opened some weeks ago. Most of them are young students to young professionals, who want to achieve a great hair snip.

“I have always wanted to bring a good grooming service to young people like me,” says owner Ralph Dustin Gica.

“In most barber shops and salons, where most men avail of haircuts and grooming services, customers usually shell out a lot in order to enjoy good service.” Having been a local TV celebrity (he had a brief stint in the reality show, “Pinoy Boyband Superstar”) and currently a pilot, Ralph has always given value to good grooming. After two years of brainstorming, he opened Slick Street Barbers together with his dad last July.

Slick Street is a cozy little spot along a quiet street. But customers will be treated to a clean and comfortable ambience that could make waiting for one’s turn at the barber’s chair pleasurable. Instead of snapshots of models sporting signature hairstyles, the minimalist interior is highlighted by a wall adorned by framed black and white photographs of the owner’s “idols” in terms of good styling and gentlemanly confidence such as James Deen, Daniel Craig as James Bond and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Currently, it has two barbers—to whom Ralph has been a loyal customer when he was still in college—trained in the latest trends in men’s haircut. Thus, customers are assured of getting the best hairdo.

Ralph said that he has envisioned the place to be an attractive “man cave,” where young men can avail of not just haircuts but also products that enhance their personal looks.

“I might be making men’s snickers, pomade and limited edition merchandise available soon so customers would keep coming not just for their monthly or weekly appointments with our barber,” he said.

With some schools and universities opening their respective school years this August, surely many young male students will need their monthly or weekly haircut for a fresh look for school. Slick Street Barbers awaits anyone who wants a slick hairdo without shelling out most of their “baon” or draining their wallets dry. Here, quality styling is easily accessible (and affordable) to anyone who wants it.

Whether it’s the pompadour or just the simple trim that you want, Slick Street Barbers makes sure that you get your ideal cut. You may head on to their barber shop at your most convenient day in the week as they are open starting 2 until 10 p.m on weekdays and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

With good grooming now considered as a basic necessity along with healthy food and exercise, here’s an avenue for every male to avail of it.
