Mabalacat mayor is Clark council co-chairman

MABALACAT City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has been appointed as co-chairman of the Metro Clark Advisory Council (MCAC).

MCAC is Clark Development Corporation's (CDC) link to communities around the Freeport. CDC president and chief executive officer Noel Manankil is the council's chairman.

Garbo was appointed during the council's recent meeting where development updates regarding business, infrastructure, labor, airport, Clark master plan, and South East Asian Games updates were discussed.

Garbo thanked everyone for the trust and support and vowed to bring in some game-changing leadership in the organization.

Aside from Garbo, other members of MCAC include Mayor Carmelo Lazatin of Angeles City; Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan of Capas, Tarlac; Mayor Jaime Capil of Porac; president Manankil of CDC; CDC chairman Jose De Jesus; and CDC directors Nestor Villaroman and Edwin Rodriguez, among others.

Through the MCAC, the mayors are able to express to the CDC various Clark-related concerns of their constituents during supposed monthly meetings.

The MCAC was formed soon after the creation of the CDC when the US Air Force abandoned Clark in 1991. The council was created based on the provisions of Republic Act 7227 of 1992 or the law accelerating the conversion of military reservations into other productive uses, creating the Bases Conversion and Development Authority for this purpose and providing funds thereof and for other purposes.
