BUILDING a world-class tourism destination in Talisay City, Cebu is one of Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas’s dream projects for his administration.

To fulfill this, he visited the offices of some senators, asking for funds from them.

Initial budgeting showed that Gullas’s project would cost more or less P100 million in three phases of construction work.

Gullas said he sought the help of senators Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Ronald dela Rosa, Christopher Lawrence Go, Sherwin Gatchalian, Miguel Zubiri, Nancy Binay, Imee Marcos, Sonny Angara, Pia Cayetano and Francis Tolentino.

The legislators, he said, vowed to help him realize his project. The administration of Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia also promised to help Gullas.

In Barangay Poblacion will rise Gullas’s planned tourist hub, which would comprise a central plaza, food court and a boardwalk that would lead to the Liberation Park.

Aside from soliciting funds from the national lawmakers, Gullas said the other funds for the construction of the tourism hub would come from the supplemental budget for 2019 and the annual budget for 2020.

The mayor also asked for funds from his grandfather and predecessor, Rep. Eduardo Gullas (Cebu, first district).

Gullas plans to meet with Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and the top official of the tourism department in Central Visayas. He would also seek help from them.

The tourism hub’s design is now being finalized, Gullas said. (from FMD of Superbalita Cebu/KAL)
