International organization makesense to host biggest agro-tourism event

Launched in 2012 in Berlin, Sensecamps have been happening across the globe, from São

Paulo, Brazil to Singapore, featuring speakers such as professors Muhammad Yunus, Guenter Faltin, Liam Black, Charles Einstein, Rodrigo Baggio and many more.

Now on its eighth year, the Sensecamp is coming to Cebu, Philippines with the theme “Agro-tourism,” to empower citizens and their role in the achievement of sustainable development goals and to inspire them to become changemakers or social entrepreneurs in their localities.

Powered by the tools and methodologies of makesense, an international organization of social entrepreneurs and active changemakers, the camp is being organized mainly by makesense volunteers, making it the biggest volunteer-led agro-tourism camp in the country.

“makesense Philippines has been engaging the Filipino youth for the last four years with social

entrepreneurship for social and environmental advocacies such as sustainable tourism, agriculture and clean energy,” said Léa Klein, makesense Philippines country director.

“I cannot stress enough how citizen-organized events are so vital in scaling social impact. The Sensecamp is a great showcase of how the community, comprised of people from a variety of backgrounds, can come together and organize a learning and networking opportunity for their localities. The Sensecamp weekend is full of fun and possibilities and it is only possible through our ambassadors and volunteers,” added Asia community developer Pepper Limpoco.

This year’s camp will be held at Formosa Camp Resort, Tuburan, Cebu from Aug, 23 to 25, 2019. Citizens interested in starting their own social enterprise or becoming active changemakers are highly encouraged to join this event. Deadline for applications is on Aug. 16, 2019.
