DTI-Zamboanga to open 6 more Negosyo Centers

SIX more Negosyo Centers are set to be established by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Zamboanga Peninsula to expand the agency’s services to businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs here in the region.

Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, said three of the six Negosyo Centers will be established in Zamboanga del Norte, two in Zamboanga del Sur, and one in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Jain said the establishment of more Negosyo Centers is in line with the objective of the DTI that all local government units in the region will have such facility by 2020.

“This will facilitate easier access to small entrepreneurs when it comes to product development, marketing, financial literacy, production efficiency, and technology transfer,” Jain said.

At present, there are 54 Negosyo Centers across the region. The first ones were established in key cities like Zamboanga, Isabela, Dapitan, Dipolog, and Pagadian, she added.

The DTI official said the establishment of Negosyo Centers will bring closer the government service to the intended clients. It is manned by trained DTI personnel to attend to the needs of the clients.

The services of the Negosyo Centers include the conduct of business seminars, counseling for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs as well as those interested or wanted to learn about business.

The centers also process business name registration, Jain said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
