WHEN we think of pasalubongs from Davao City, the first thing that comes to our mind is some kind of durian-based product, chocolates, or a box of fruits like pomelo or mangosteen.

However, the pasalubong scene in Davao City is changing with small and medium enterprises coming out with quality products that are proudly Davao made. Here are pasalubongs that I highly recommend as alternatives to the regularly bought pasalubongs from Davao City.

Annipie’s Cinnamon Rolls

In my opinion, Annipie has the best cinnamon rolls in Davao City. The rolls just have that right amount of sweetness and spiciness from the cinnamon. Aside from the classic cinnamon rolls, Annipie also has different varities for those looking for a twist to this classic favorite like Caramel Crunch, Ultimate Cinnamon Roll, Choco Maltine, Glazed, Super Chocolate, Choco Crunch, Choco Mocha, Nutty Cheese, and Cappuccino. You can buy a box of four or nine of these delicious rolls in any branches of Annipie -- the main branch along Quimpo Boulevard, Abreeza Mall of Davao, Phoenix Lanang, and SM Lanang Premier. A box of four of assorted cinnamon rolls is at P141 while a box of nine is at P289. A box of four of cinnamon rolls sampler is at P167 while a box of nine is at P330.

Ana Banana’s Banana Loaf

Ana Banana just started this year but their delicious and moist banana loaves was a critical success in Davao City. The moment you open their packaging you just get that wonderful and sweet fragrance of banana. Then you take a bite of it and bursts with that delicious taste of banana that we love. Their banana loaves come in three different flavors -- Plain, Dark Choco Chips, and Walnuts. Aside from the whole loaf, they also sell boxes of 6 of Bana-bites, smaller portions of their banana loaves and perfect for sharing among friends. You can place an order through their Instagram or Facebook page. They also have displays at Mugshot Wine + Cafe, Faregrounds Food Hall + Mart, and Trips and Treats.

Blue Post Bakehouse’s Ensaymada

Soft, buttery, and generously topped with cheese, Blue Post Bakehouse’s Ensaymada is a joy to eat. I just discovered this delicious pastry last month after a visit at Union Market in Azuela Cove. Just writing about it wants me to grab a cab and buy a box of 6, reasonably priced at P270. Blue Post Bakehouse’s Ensaymada comes in three different flavors -- Classic, Ube, and Salted Egg. For this month they are also rolling out their durian-flavored ensaymada. Buy a box of this treat at Union Market in Azuela Cove.

The Fat Cow’s Experiment Cookie #1

Cookie lovers will love this rich and indulgent cookie by The Fat Cow. Made of “molten cookie dough, gooey chocolate, and lots of toasted almonds”, the cookie will have you craving for another bite. I love how it is not very sweet but still able to satisfy my sweet tooth. Their cookie runs out quickly, be sure to drop them a message on Facebook to place an order. A box of six is at P500 while a box of 10 is at P750.

Mugshot Wine + Cafe’s Seresa Rosas

Mugshots Wine + Cafe surprised me when they introduced me to their wine -- Seresa Rosas. The wine is crafted in Cotabato using the finest cherries. It is sweet cherry and light-bodied. This local artisanal wine, priced at P800, will make the perfect pasalubong for your friends who enjoy a good bottle of wine. It is also perfect for occasions with friends or families. Visit their cafe along Tionko Ave. to check out the wine. They also serve a good cup of coffee here.

Chef Angelo’s Garlic and Seafood Sauce

True to their word, the Garlic and Seafood Sauce is an all-around condiment. It is spicy, sweet, salty, and has that umami that makes this condiment so special. This is a favorite of mine and highly recommend it for those looking for something to spice up their meals. I just love how it always elevates my boring meals. You can buy yours at Faregrounds or message Sauces and Dips by Chef Angelo on Facebook to order in advance.
