3 Oro karatekas bag medals

YOUNG karatekas from Cagayan de Oro managed to win some medals in the 2019 Inter-School Karatedo Championships held recently at the Gaisano Grand City Gate in Davao City.

The troika of Raven Kyle Javier, Mary Geraldine Galang and Angelyn Collado brought home a silver and pair of bronze medals as the only entries from the City of Gold, representing the Bushido thru Martial Arts Development Association (BMDA) founded by youthful martial arts instructor Michael Pabillore.

Fighting out of the Cagayan de Oro College (COC-Phinma) where he's presently studying in college, Galang seized the silver in the kumite's 55 weight category for 18 years old and above participants.

Galang and Collado, both students of Don Mariano Canoy Colleges, meanwhile settled for a bronze each in the 14-under level of the kumite competition.

"Biglaan ang sitwasyun and not enough preparation because of urgent matters sa ilang respective schools. Even though lack of time in training, they made strong decision to fight. Happy ko sa result especially that first time ni Angelyn Collado mo away gipakita gyud iyang pag pursige sa karate sport. Happy pud ko kay sulit ang biyahe the BMDA fighters fought to the last minute and through that we got one silver and two bronzez," Pabillore said. (LLS)
