DA eyes P68M for rural development projects

SOME P68 million has been targeted for disbursement by the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) I-REAP Component for Region 3.

This was learned during the recent PRDP meeting on August 13 for the 2nd Quarter Meeting and Assessment on Project Implementation held at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III in this city.

“As you can see, we have been conducting several assessment and coordination meetings these past few weeks, it is because we only have five months to achieve our target disbursement for the year,” said Regional Project Coordination Office (PRCO 3) Project Director Eduardo L. Lapuz Jr. at the start of the meeting.

He stressed that the PRDP gauged its success not only with its physical accomplishment but adjoining the attainment of its cash disbursement or financial accomplishment.

Lapuz acknowledged the participation of the Municipal Project Management and Implementing Unit (MPMIU), Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) from the seven provinces and the initiative of the RPCO 3 and the Project Support Office (PSO) in spearheading the activity.

Meanwhile, I-REAP Business Development Syrah Sagun presented the Disbursement Monitoring underlining that there are 153 approved subprojects and remaining four subprojects in the pipeline.

According to Sagun, the target disbursement of subprojects for 2014-2019 was P252.231 million while actual disbursement amounted to P189.841 million as of August 9, 2019.

In another presentation, RPCO Financial Analyst Kathleen Catacutan discussed the status of liquidation, disbursement and cash budgeting.

Among other presenters were RPCO 3 Procurement Officer Gab Cubillos, I-BUILD Rural Infrastructure Engineer Jun Clinton Gonzales, and Social and Environment Safeguard (SES) Associate Roy Cruz raised related concerns, updates and status on their respective units.

Enterprise Development and Marketing Specialist (EDMS) Maricel Dullas reminded the delegates to finish all pending disbursements to lessen recurring issues on succeeding meetings and assessments.

“Just to remind you, I-REAP subprojects will only be until the end of 2020,” Dullas said.
