Flood victims get food packs from governor

AROUND 10,321 families who were affected by the recent flooding brought by the monsoon rains received food packs from Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda Thursday, August 15.

Pineda distributed relief food packs to 51,605 individuals in 24 flood-affected barangays of Macabebe after the governor had inspected and assessed the situation of the town.

Pineda was assisted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and provincial social welfare office during the distribution of goods.

"Noong weekend, personal tayong pumunta rito sa bayan ng Macabebe upang malaman ang sitwasyon ng mga kabalen natin dito. Personal nating nakita kung gaano kalala ang sitwasyon nila, kaya bumalik tayo ngayon upang maghandog ng kaunting tulong sa mga apektadong residente rito," he said.

Each family received relief goods that include five kilos of rice, four pieces of sardines, and corned beef.

"Maswelu kami, lalu na ikaming pakakalulu. Maragul yang saup ini kekami, anya pasalamat ku kang Governor, sana e magbayu," said Pacita Manlapaz, 70, beneficiary from Barangay San Rafael, Macabebe.

Mayor Leonardo Flores, meanwhile, acknowledged the efforts given by the Provincial Government to his people.

"Mabuti dumating si governor. More than 10,000 ang nangangailangan talaga ng tulong dito," he said. "Bata pa lang 'yan, kilala ko na 'yan. Para sa bayan, ganyan talaga si Dennis, mapagmahal sa mga tao."

Macabebe town is known as one of the catch basins in the province. Floodwaters in the town rise as the water from upstream goes down.
