Young artists rule in Hedcor Caravan

THE First Hedcor Caravan gathered the best of budding artists from across Northern Luzon.

Representatives from schools in Ilocos Sur (Amilongan, Alilem), Mountain Province (Sabangan), Bakun (Poblacion), Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, and La Trinidad, all in Benguet, both from the elementary and high school divisions converged in Baguio City last Wednesday, August 7, for the first Hedcor caravan themed #SustainableEnergy.

Attended by 15 schools from host communities in North Luzon, the caravan had discussions on renewable energy and sustainability with an educational tour of the BenCab Museum at Asin, Tuba.

The 45 students selected from the six high schools and nine elementary institutions were given an art workshop by local artist Delfin Torre.

The two-day caravan was highlighted with the poster making competition using the theme which guided the students to create works of art.

Elementary division champion Grail Ann Lucas from the Bineng Elementary School with coach Teacher Mary Grace Alsaen took home top prize with her colorful interpretation of the theme.

The 1st runner-up plum went to Daniel Lami-ing, from Pingad Bao-angan Elementary School with coach Teacher Eugene Mangay-at while 2nd runner-up went to Keith Calixto from the Ampusongan Elementary School with coach Teacher Brenda Bugtong.

For the high school category, top prize went to Alleron Arbeso, Sablan National High School with coach and teacher Melecent Paran, 1st runner-up saw Julien Dayap from the Sablan National HIgh School with coach and teacher Melecent Paran and 2nd runner-up Sharmaine Lea Felipe from the Namatec National High School with coach and teacher Merriame Laruan.

This writer with Torre and Romeo Catingub, Hedcor CSR officer, judged the works to declare the champions.
