DSWD hits misleading online post about ‘educational assistance’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assailed a misleading post on social media about the department’s “educational assistance”.

According to the DSWD, the said post claims that the agency is calling for applications for Educational Scholarship Program to all students amounting to P3,500.

The DSWD-Central Luzon clarified that there is no existing “Educational Scholarship Program” in its list of services.

It also said it that offers educational emergency assistance for individuals in crisis situation. They added that students affected by calamities, disasters, or emergencies are the ones eligible to avail the said assistance.

The amount of assistance is determined by the social worker assessing the case.

The DSWD said that many people have been swarming into their extension offices all over the region, only to find out that the post they used as reference was false.

In its extension office in Pampanga alone, an estimated 60 walk-in clients came in lieu of the misleading post since the other day. (PR)
