Real estate developer takes helm of Rotary Club of Metro Cebu

CATHERINE Galvez Cusi, a real estate developer, was inducted as the 41st president of the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu (RCMC) at the Grand Ballroom of Seda Hotel at the Cebu Business Park on Saturday night, Aug. 10, 2019.

Other officers inducted were Mary Ann Soria, the president-elect who will take over the leadership in 2020; Seigfred Sia, vice president; Elcasmer Acedo, secretary; Ma. Presa Aparis, assistant secretary; Molly Resitore, treasurer; Adrian Lee, auditor; and lawyer Eddie Barrita, protocol officer.

Club directors who were inducted were Ernesto Dacay for peace and order; Dr. Wyben R. Briones for the Rotary Foundation; Dr. Vicente Balbuena for youth; Dr. Jose Flordelis for disaster risk reduction management; lawyer Rodolfo Cabrera as adviser; Architect Jonathan Zabate for club administration, basic education and literacy; Florita Hall for international affairs and ways and means; Dr. Josefina Zabate for maternal and child health; Dr. Wilfredo Dublin for disease prevention and treatment; Frank Crijns for economic and community development; Lambert Lim Lam Thai for water and sanitaiton; and Roberto Tito Pacana, immediate past president.

The RCMC is known for conducting free medical and dental missions.

It has been initiating a project to build one million toilets for the poor residents in Metro Cebu who have no toilets, and at least 50 toilets were already built in Jao Island in Bohol.

The group has a feeding program for some 100 malnourished students at the Don Carlos A. Gothong Memorial National High School in Cebu City.
