Resourcefulness

“Being truly thankful makes you infinitely more resourceful. By sincerely appreciating what you have, you find new and valuable ways to make use of it.” - Ralph Marston

We live in a world where innovations and creativity are advancing gradually, providing answer and solution to every need and wants the humanity has, including the most trivial or menial matters. Many are venturing or capitalizing into this and it’s one of the reasons why the successful person prospers – innovation and resourcefulness.

We look around us and we probably wonder how things developed to what they are now and how things used to be challenging in the past. We are grateful. From this standpoint, we begin to see and comprehend more. Ralph Marston said, “Being truly thankful makes you infinitely more resourceful. By sincerely appreciating what you have, you find new and valuable ways to make use of it.”

Resourcefulness, then, is a value inspired by something more innate – that light, joyful and peaceful feeling when you are simply grateful and satisfied. When we look at the resources around us, does it cause us to smile? Do we see its potential to create or progress into something else? Every time we have a need, do we consider taking a look at what resources are available?

Most of the time, we do not have to look and search very far, the solutions are right in front of us. The first thing we need to be is in a state of calmness. We cannot be frustrated by what seems to be a lack of answer or solutions; there’s a need to learn how to rise above every situation and appreciate the resources around us. It is at this point that understanding and wisdom from God flows freely, without doubts and panic getting in the way. We begin to innovate, assess and identify the actions that need to be taken. Then we relate every action to available resources while minimizing the cost, including monetary, time and manpower.

Being in God’s image and likeness and partakers of His grace and divine power, we were given everything we need that pertains to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence (1 Peter 1:3). Every work of our hands and every ground we tread upon are blessed. What we received freely from Him, we feel grateful and we are filled with wisdom to use and multiply it well. He gave us flour; we bake bread to eat. He gave us the strength and ability, we work and we become ingenious stewards.

We also have to keep in mind that the whole world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God. We are the answer to every need and nothing comes into being without Him and His Word that is in us. What we are and what we have is the very material needed to accomplish everything around us, including the national transformation we are all longing for.

On the other hand, we ought to consider others the same, their potential to exercise the power of God working in them. Their time of breakthrough is at hand and in due time, be one with the rest of us in being resourceful ambassadors of God on this earth.
