Capitol prepares 2020 prov’l budget

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson revealed that they are now preparing the year 2020 Provincial budget.

"We are now in preparatory stage. I have not submitted any yet to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan," Lacson said.

He said that he has already asked the offices to prepare their respective budget.

"We have until October to prepare our proposed budget," Lacson said.

The budget proposal will be submitted by the Governor to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval.

Negros Occidental is set to receive P3.726 billion Internal Revenue Allotment in 2020, with an increase of P421.447 million, from this year’s P3.304 billion based on Capitol data.

The 12 component cities on the other hand will obtain a total of P9.556 billion in IRA shares next year while all the 19 municipalities will have a total of P3.357 billion.

Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado said a higher IRA share for the province means more programs and projects that will benefit the Negrenses.

Each of the 12 component cities will get the following: Kabankalan, from P1.112 billion in 2019 to P1.254 billion in 2020; Cadiz, P922.043 billion to P1.039 billion; Bago, P844 million to P951.653 million; San Carlos, P824.371 million to P929.509 million; Sipalay, P662.699 million to P747.219 million; Sagay, P744.114 million to P839.017 million; Himamaylan, P711.456 million to P802.194 million; Silay, P615.142 million to P693.595 million; Talisay, P563.652 million to P635.540 million; Escalante, P543.361 million to P612.661 million; Victorias, P483.679 million to P545.367 million; and La Carlota, P448.582 million to P505.794 million.

Of the 19 municipalities, Cauayan will get the highest IRA share of P321.812 million next year from the current P285.411 million while San Enrique will receive the lowest amount of P86.744 million in 2020 from this year’s P76.932 million.
