HOUSE Deputy Speaker and Third District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Jr. led the formal turnover of a farm tractor to the members of the Macupa Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

The 90-horsepower machine will be used to till the lands of the members of the cooperative during pre-planting preparations. The machinery is expected to facilitate fast and efficient land preparation.

Gonzales, together with officials of the Department of Agrarian Reform, led the turnover of the machinery to members of the cooperative.

He promised to facilitate the processing of more farm machinery for farmers in the district.

Gonzales said the farm machinery would greatly improve the farming cycle of farmers in rural areas of the district. The machines would cut pre-planting and land preparation time as well as expedite harvest.

The lawmaker also urged farmer cooperatives to coordinate with him on issues and concerns of the agriculture sector here so that these may be addressed through national legislation if needed or through key agencies that can help the said sector.

Gonzales said he is keen in providing machinery and equipment which are intended to improve farmer productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. The lawmaker said that since his return to public office, he had facilitated the distribution of farm implements and machinery to farmers of the third district.
