DTI launches consumer corners in Tarlac

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently launched its newest consumer corners in three local malls in Tarlac City.

DTI-Tarlac Provincial Director Agnes Ramirez led the opening of the said facilities in My Metrotown Mall, Citywalk and Sector 7 malls.

The consumer corner aims to promote consumer welfare and protection by providing consumers with access to DTI consumer-related information materials.

Information education and communication (IEC) materials include posters, tarpaulin and brochures on Consumer Rights, Exact Change, Product Certification and Standards, Consumer Vigilance, Philippine Standards (PS) and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) marks, Consumer Complaints and other consumer-related topics.

Ramirez expressed her gratitude to the management of the said establishments for their positive response to DTI’s request for partnership in advocating consumer protection through the consumer corners.

The DTI Tarlac office regularly visits major stores and supermarkets not only to monitor the supply and prices of basic needs and prime commodities but also to capacitate the personnel of these establishments and enhance their knowledge of consumer rights and the responsibilities of sellers.

In case there are consumer complaints or concerns regarding their buying transactions, Ramirez also reminded consumers to call the Consumer Hotline 1-384 or send a message on DTI’s social media account using the handle @DTI Consumer Care.
