Golf, bike events slated for Baguio Day celebration

AT LEAST four sports events spearheaded by a private group will see action as part of the 110th Baguio Charter Day celebration on September 1.

Dubbed Baguio Olympics "For a Cause: Baguio Sports Tourism," the events will be staged from August 31 to September 1 in separate venues.

Leading the two-day sporting event is a golf tournament at the Baguio Country Club (BCC) and Pinewoods golf courses with hundred parbusters expected to join the tournament, which tees off at 7 a.m. until noon on a first come, first served basis.

Trophies and special prices await top three finishers in the men's and women's group A, B, and C, and jungolf division in the Stableford Pal scoring system.

Special awards will also be given for longest drive and nearest to the pin with registration at P3,000, inclusive of green fee at the BCC and Pinewoods, and golf cart (sharing) at Pinewoods.

Biking enthusiasts in the city will be up for a challenge as the 22 kilometer mountain bike uphill race also sees action on September, which starts at Camp 6 toll booth and ends at the Baguio Country Club barangay hall.

Cash and medals await top three finishers in under 23, senior (23 to 24 years old), veteran (35 to 45), masters (46 and above), and ladies' open. Medals will also be given to 4th to 10 place finishers.

A 10-miler Kennon Run, Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing event will also be slated in the two-day event.

Registration is ongoing at Explore Bikeshop along Legarda Rd.
