THE SM CDO Downtown Premier Mega Screen Cinema was filled with applause and cheers as Kagay-anons were treated to an evening of beauty, poise and elegance during the Evening Gown competition of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 held last Saturday, August 17.
The 12 candidates strutted on the stage decked in their stunning and colorful evening gowns created from the fabrics of Gaisano and designed by the talented designers of Cagayan de Oro, the Oro Fashion Designers Guild.
Special awards were given to the candidates, with candidate number 6 Cinderella Faye Obeñita from Barangay Carmen harvesting most of them.
City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual, chairman of the committee on tourism and one of the judges of the night's evening gown competition, said all of them had a really hard time picking out who will be receiving the Best in Evening Gown and Best Gown awards.
"We really had a hard time judging because the designers are good and their designs are very nice, very beautiful," Pascual said.
The Best in Evening Gown and Best Gown winners will be announced during the pageant's coronation night this coming Saturday, August 24.
Pascual also encouraged the Kagay-anons to join and have fun participating in the Higalaay Festival activities this August.
"I hope that of all the fiesta activities we will have on the coming days sa August, you will join us sa City Government. The City Government is very supportive of all our engagements sa atoang mga fiesta activities," Pascual said.
"Please do join us because dili lang Miss CDO, but we also have a lot of activities during the fiesta celebration," he added.
Apart from the coronation night slated on August 24, other fiesta activities include Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair, Higalaay Choral Competition, Cowboy Festival: The Annual Cagayan de Oro Horse Show, Cagayan de Oro Carnival Street Dance Competition, 8th Mindanao Fashion Summit, Higalaay Street Parade and Floats, Centrio Mall Bisperas Fireworks, Religious Procession, Fluvial Procession, and the 2nd Kagay-an Dragon Boat Fiesta Race.
