Know your 2019 MassKara Queen candidates

IN TIME for the 40th MassKara festival celebration this October 2019, this renowned festival of Bacolod City will again stage this year's search for the next MassKara festival queen.

We are giving our readers the opportunity to know the MQ candidates.

Allow us to feature the candidates in two batches to give you the opportunity to know the MQ candidates. The first five of the ten MQ candidates are:

Masskara Queen candidate #1

Ms. Christine A. Mendoza, 22, residing at Meridian St., Camella Homes, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Riverside College, Curriculum Year 2015-2019.

She wants to be the voice of the innocent children and encourages everyone to help create a child-friendly society which is anchored on her advocacy of promoting children’s health and welfare.

The most influential person in her life is her father. Her motto is to commit everything to God and get the job done.

Mendoza was a journalism awardee of Riverside College this year. She volunteers to Suntown Camp since 2018 up to the present as her community service.

She is currently teaching at Bright Kids Pre-school.

Masskara Queen candidate #2

"Building the Future: transforming lives, one out-of-school-youth at a time," this is the goal of Ms. Roem G. Alcaen, 20 of Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

She is taking up her BS Education, Major in English at La Carlota City College, and is currently on her second year.

Dancing is her talent/skills.

Her dream career is to become a teacher.

She is very passionate in everything that she does and always has this burning passion for her to reach her goals.

Her advocacy is, "As a future educator, I dream to educate and influence the out of school youth and to motivate them to change for the better."

She was once a class valedictorian at Recreo Elementary School in 2012; with high honors at Catalino Solignen National High School in 2018 and was named as Miss Freshmen of La Carlota City College in 2018.

The community service that she joined was the National Service Training Program in 2018.

Masskara Queen candidate #3

“Unveil your talents and gifts to the world and inspire people to embrace their individuality,” this is the objective of Moira Maci C. Abesamis, 21, of Villa Ramos Subd., Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

She is a fourth year BS Tourism Management student at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.

Her talents/skills include singing and dancing. The most influential person in her life is former senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. Her dream career is to become a pilot.

Her most prized possession is her voice.

She was once a Mutya ng Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija in 2018; Mutya ng Noppscea-Culture in 2019; Best in Department Thesis 2018-2019 and Most Outstanding Student in the field of Service 2016-2018.

She was once the vice president of Alliance of Tourism Leaders & Associates Society in 2017; a member, 2030 Youth Force in the Phils. Inc. in 2018; and deputy governor of Yu An Log College of Business & Accountancy Student Council in 2018.

She does freelance singing and events' hosting.

Masskara Queen candidate #4

“We’re gonna be leaders someday and we should know what’s going on,” said Andrea M. Sagario, 17, of Otero Apt., Sierra Madre St., Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City. She is a Grade 11 student at Liceo De La Salle.

Her talents/skills include theatre arts, singing, playing acoustic and electric guitar.

Her dream career is to become a speech and language pathologist.

Her best personal attribute is compassion. “It has helped me grow as a person and become more involved in my community,” she said.

Her advocacy is to educate the youth about HIV/Aids prevention.

She was a Silver La Salle Award (With High Honors) in 2019; an outstanding organizational award -- PSG, 2019 and Senior Red Cross Youth.

She joined Red Cross Youth–Bacolod Chapter in 2016.

She is part of the Community Animal Rescue Efforts (CARE Inc.) 2019; a member of the Community Services Center – IS Balayan 2017and IS and Artist’s Hub–PSG 2018.

Masskara Queen candidate #5

“The beauty of never giving up in pursuing your dreams is becoming a better version of yourself,” said Trecia M. Tuquero, 21, of Barangay 36, Bacolod City.

She completed her BS Tourism Management course from La Consolacion College-Bacolod, curriculum Year: 2015-2019.

Her talents/skills include singing, dancing and tour guiding.

Her motto is, "Fall seven times, stand up eight."

Her dream career is to become a flight attendant of an international airline.

Her goal is to have her own business and to join a national beauty pageant.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2019, and was named Mutya ng Noppscea first runner-up 2017 and Mutya ng Pilipinas NIR second runner-up 2017.

She was a member of the Red Cross Youth in 2014.

Her work experience include being Smart Brand Ambassadress 2019 (June) and an OJT at the HR Department of Crimson Resort and Spa 2018 (September-February).
