P27,000 shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P27,00 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug busts conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City on Sunday morning, August 18.

Authorities arrested two drug personalities identified as Genecyl Gonzales, of Purok Cinco, Barangay Singcang-Airport, and Renato Castroverde, 55, of Barangay Handumanan.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said Gonzales was arrested by operatives of Police Station 6 after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover on Carmen Street, Barangay 40 around 4:50 a.m.

Recovered from Gonzales's possession were three sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of P21,000, the P500 marked money, and a cellular phone.

Pico also added that Castroverde was also arrested at 2:00 a.m. by operatives of Police Station 10 at Phase 6A, Barangay Handumanan.

Recovered from Castroverde's possession were three sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of P6,000, as well as the P300 marked money.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of the Police Stations 6 and 10, and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
