ROY Yanson, the eldest among the Yanson siblings, is reaching out to their mom, Olivia, and his five siblings amid the family feud that has been going public for more than a month now.

Roy said he is saddened by what has happened to their family.

"Because of issues that were not discussed and resolved, it has resulted to squabbling. There is no perfect family and like any other families, we had no intention to bring our family issues in public, be misunderstood and put ourselves under trial by publicity," he said.

"Today I take this stand, as the eldest, I am reaching out to my mom and all my siblings; Emily, Ginnette, Celina, Ricky and Leo Rey. Let us meet and sit down as one family. Let us set our differences behind us and talk. Let us

forgive each other," he added.

He appealed to his family to start all over again, saying "it is never too late."

"We are all losers here. One or some of us may win the seat of power but we will all stand to lose our family. Enough is enough. It is never too late to start all over again. Let us all stop these. Let us sit down and talk like what our parents taught us to do during disagreement," he said.

Roy also acknowledged in his statement that the rift within their family is not helping the employees of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), operator of the Ceres buses, and is putting the relationships of their children and grandchildren at stake.

He said he is not reaching out to his mother and siblings Leo Rey and Ginnette because he and three other siblings -- Celina, Emily and Ricky -- no longer own the VTI main office in Mansilingan and the terminals, but because he does not want to "prolong the public staging of our family feud and to leave these issues unresolved."

"As what our later father, Dr. Ricardo Yanson, said, 'In unity there is strength.' So once again I am reaching out to my mom and to all my siblings. Let us all sit down and sit aside our personal issues," he said.

He said what he wanted is peace. "Let peace be in our hearts. Let us stop pointing fingers. Let us be a family again and our dad and mom will be proud of."

He asked and excused not to entertain media questions after he issued the statement.

The Yanson family squabble started after Roy, Emily, Celina, and Ricky ousted their brother, Leo Rey, as president of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies, on July 7.

Leo Rey, however, has refused to step down. He is backed by their mother, Olivia, and sister Ginette. (TDE/CNC/With SunStar Philippines)
