A 38-YEAR-OLD farmer was shot dead inside his house in Sitio Camanggahan, Barangay Poog, Toledo City, Monday evening, August 19, 2019.

Police Staff Sergeant Reynaldo Arradaza, case investigator, identified the victim as Mario E. Paraiso.

Paraiso sustained three gunshot wounds in the face. He was reportedly shot by a still unidentified assailant.

Arradaza said they have yet to check Paraiso's background to verify reports about his alleged involvement in illegal drug trade in the area.

"According to some witnesses we interviewed, the victim was allegedly into illegal use and selling of shabu. We are still to verify that. I believe he was shot point blank since his face was burned," he said.

Arradaza said Paraiso's live-in partner was reportedly washing the dishes in their parent's house, which is located next to the house of the victim, when the shooting happened.

"When we asked her, she said she only heard of his husband talking to an unfamiliar man before he heard gunshots," he said.

Authorities recovered from the crime scene two fired bullets of caliber .45 pistol and two fired cartridges. (WBS)
