CACAO City, which has been featuring different homegrown brands of cacao and chocolate products, has increased its daily target sales this year to P18,000 from P15,000 in 2018.

Kenneth Reyes-Lao, Cacao City Marketing Cooperative treasurer and Cacao Culture Farms owner, told SunStar Davao that the increase is a result of the growing market for cacao-based products in the city.

“We look at it as a store, we are looking at an average of P18,000 worth of sales a day. It could be coming from the store or during events,” Lao said.

“We have three events during Kadayawan. And for the whole year, mayroon din kaming mga activities na sinusuportahan sa (we have activities supported by the) local government. Maybe we have 20 events in a year and each event could range to three days,” he added.

Lao said their daily sales during special events like Kadayawan could even surpass their target as more local and foreign buyers purchase their products.

Last August 16, Cacao City, in partnership with Gaisano Grand Citygate-Buhangin, was able to showcase their products as part of their Kakao Festival sa Kadayawan activity.

Gaisano Grand Citygate Mall-Buhangin area manager Lee Cartagena they are committed to continually provide space for local brands like Cacao City to market their products and they will not limit it to cacao-based products.

“Ito ay isang vision ng Gaisano Grand Citygate na matulungan natin ang mga local na negosyante para ma-showcase ang kanilang produkto. Nakausap naming ang Department of Agriculture na kung mayroong mga activities lalo for organic farmers ay susuporta po kami as a venue partner,” Cartagena said.

Cacao City brands include Cacao Culture Farms, Cacao de Davao, Cacao and Beyond, Federation of Cooperatives in Mindanao (Fedco), Malagos Chocolates, Nutrarich Philippines, Rosario’s Delicacies, Sikwate, and Wit’s Sweets and Savories. It is located in the Pasalubong Center, Palma Gil St. (LHC)
