Korean, 5 other others nabbed

A KOREAN national, his live-in partner and four other suspected drug personalities were nabbed by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon in a drug bust launched in Angeles City Monday, August 19.

PDEA Regional Director Gil Pabilona identified the suspects as Suh Jun Hong, 44, a native of Daeju City, South Korea; his live-in partner Maria S. Ramos, 31; Reynon B. Rodriguez, 36; Michael M. Balberan, 40, an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Patrick L. Nepomuceno, 28.

During the operation, Pabilona said PDEA agents were able to purchase kush, a hybrid type of marijuana, worth P1,000 from Hong and Ramos at their residence in Camelia St., Timog Park.

"Hong has been in the country for eight years and based on our investigation, he owns a five-storey commercial building being rented in Korea and all proceeds are being sent here in the Philippines," Pabilona said.

The high impact operation yielded five sachets containing colored tablets suspected to be ecstasies, two plastic sachets containing suspected kush, various drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.

The suspects are now detained at the PDEA Jail Facility in City of San Fernando. Violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied for filing in court.
