WHO said this? The information, as alleged, has been provided by the military, the authorities, and the PNP. This should be confirmed for the safety of the Negrosanons. We do not want to believe that this came from the whistle blowers, rumor mongers, horse whisperers, and visionaries.
This needs to be validated or else, many Catholics will stop attending masses and novenas. What a waste! Our priests have always prepared good sermons on how our public officials should behave in office. The priests simply want them do away with immorality, graft and corruption if we don’t want our towns and cities to be like Sodom and Gomorrah.
In some sermons, policemen, politicians, and other public servants are always reminded to follow Christ ... to serve without hesitation and favoritism. Police officers will be assigned to safeguard the churches especially during masses and other liturgical services. I hope many policemen will go to confession and receive Holy Communion.
It is suggested that churchgoers register names in a logbook like what we write in passenger manifesto before boarding the ocean vessel. This may sound funny but many wives will be happy to check the attendance of their husbands.
Why are the terrorists targeting the churches? Are they preparing for a ‘jihad’ (holy war)? Really, this ‘full alert’ should be validated by our intelligence community if we do not want to be electrocuted by fake news.
“Tourism and Terrorism” is in my module during our training for tourist policemen facilitated by the Department of Tourism and the Provincial Tourism Office. The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize. Kill one and terrorize a thousand.
Terrorism is goal-directed violence. It is also a psychological weapon. Terrorism creates a general climate of fear, so that overtime, a specific political, social or ideological goal can be achieved. This is not good for Negros. This is more horrible than “Tiempo Muerto”.
A good example of terrorism as goal-directed violence was the bombing of the World Trade Center on Feb. 26, 1993 and the crushing of the two commercial planes in the north and south towers of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
The car bomb is perhaps the most influential weapon in the modern terrorist arsenal. It is relatively simple to place an explosive like C-4 or Semitex on a vehicle where it cannot be easily seen. The bomb can be rigged to explode by a time device or by remote control. Negrosanons, we can prevent terrorism by not becoming terrorists. We challenge our leaders to be strong and committed. Terrorism can only grow if we allow its growth.
