Police trainees tapped in sidewalk clearing campaign

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar is tapping the assistance of the more than 400 police trainees undergoing Field Training Program (FTP) in the enforcement of local ordinances and laws.

This, as Salazar vowed to fully comply the order of President Rodrigo Duterte on reclamation of public roads being used for private purposes as well as the strict enforcement of all local laws and ordinances.

Salazar led the orientation of the police trainees at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum as she instructed them to exhaust all means to help secure this city through her core message: “Deny the terrorists the opportunity to conduct terror in our AOR (Area of Responsibility).”

The police trainees are currently deployed to the city’s streets and intersections by the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula until the culmination of their FTP.

Edelin Marcelina of the city council oriented the police trainees on the provisions of the traffic ordinance to include anti-jaywalking; ordinance on vagrancy and prostitution; sanitary and Anti Littering Ordinance; sidewalk ordinance; ordinance against Sniffing of Rugby; anti mendicancy ordinance; and anti-smoking ordinance, among others.

Isidro Cillo, Jr., operations division chief of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-city office, briefed the participants on the provisions of DILG Memorandum Circular 121 pursuant to President Duterte’s nationwide advocacy on clearing public roads.
