4 nabbed in Zamboanga anti-drug stings

FOUR drug personalities were arrested while more than P20,000 worth of illegal drugs was seized in separate anti-drug operations on Wednesday, August 21, in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police said Thursday.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested drug personalities as follows: Arbie Madrazo, 25; Democrito Torrefranca, 29; Betty Medio, 26; and Ben Abdulmajid, 19.

Galvez said Madrazo was caught in possession of some P2,500 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and P200 marked money when arrested around 4:10 a.m. at Rojo Compound in Kasanyangan village, Zamboanga City.

She said Torrefranca and Medio were arrested around 2:15 p.m. in Poblacion village, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. Confiscated from them were six sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Abdulmajid was arrested at 6:30 p.m. at Azucena Drive in San Jose Gusu village yielding some P20,000 worth of shabu packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money, Galvez added.

She said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Philippines)
