Sungduan: Kadayacan training

SIX months after bringing clean water through a water pipe system project to Barangay Kadayacan, Maria Aurora, Aurora officers and members of the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio (RCMB) and Rotary Club of Hadano Naka Japan went back to the community.

This time they conducted a water hygiene training and provided the residents information and learnings on how to prevent pollution or contamination on potable water. This is to ensure the protection of the health of all those who are benefiting from the water supply.

In the activity, the barangay officials were also given the necessary information on how to effectively manage and sustain their water and sanitation facilities starting from the water source going to the households of the barangay with 1,700 population and a home of the Kankanaey and Bago tribe.

The water system project of the two clubs covers a five-kilometer pipes where every household enjoy a clean and potable water from their own faucet at home. The project under the Rotary International Global Grant No. GG1754911 was inaugurated and turned over to the barangay on February 24.

RCMB incoming president Jerry Chan with past president Oscar Matusalin, project coordinator secretary Audrey Sungduan and rotarian Amando Mayo lead the said training while Dir. Shingo Komaki and Dir Fuzakaso Naito from Japan represented their club.

“Take care of your water, this is for your future, for the children and the next generations to come,” Chan said to the locals.

Providing safe potable water to a community in need ensures the protection of their health. Also, the said training is necessary as it raises the people’s awareness on ways on how to prevent health issues.
