Bong Go vows term extension for village, SK officials

SENATOR Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go visited anew the fire victims in two barangays in Cagayan de Oro City to distribute cash and food assistance to families and cellphones for pregnant women.

He also promised barangay officials that their term will be extended until 2022.

"Gusto ba ninyo ma-extend inyong termino?" Go asked.

The crowd at the Corrales Elementary School, where fire victims are temporarily staying, answered with a "yes."

In July this year, Go filed a bill extending the terms of incumbent village and youth leaders.

Go said he wants to move the synchronized elections scheduled in May 2020 to October 2022 to give more time to barangay officials to implement their projects.

In exchange for this, Go told barangay officials of Lapasan and Puntod to take care of the fire victims and help them get back on their feet.

"Ako ng gi-file sa senado nga himuon nga october 2022 nga election pero naa tay sabot, ayaw ninyo pasagdi ning mga nasunugan. Sabot na, hangtod makauli mo sa inyong panimalay. Kundili, bawasan nato ilang termino," Go said.

It was the second time that Go was in the city to visit the fire victims. (PJ Orias)
