RUEL Algufera and Ruffa Sorongon conquered the Metro Race to Beauty Fun Run 5, winning the 21-kilometer titles on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at the Ayala Terraces.
Algufera finished the half-marathon race in 1:14:50 and outlasted Ariel Sabala and Prince Joey Lee, who timed in 1:16:41 and 1:19:17, for the men’s title. Sorongon ruled the women’s side after clocking in 1:42:43. Gretchen Sambo and Lucita Fernandez finished second and third with a time of 1:44:27 and 1:48:44, respectively.
Michael Largo topped the men’s 10K category with a time of 35:18, beating Azlan Pagay who came in 35:53 and Jerome Casinillo who finished in 35:55.
Geneciel Saballa won the women’s 10K crown in 44:29. Chiqui Limpangog was in distant second place in 52:13 and Larence Autida in 55:31.
Danny Tigao topped the men’s 5K race after crossing the finish line in 17:10 while Jay Anne Luaña won the women’s side with a clocking of 21:12. Jovan Bensig (17:33) and Reinmarch Gonzaga (17:34) were runners-up in the men’s side, while Asia Paraase (21:13) and Azalea De Jesus (25:39) completed the podium spots in the women’s division. (RSC)
