Students arrested for illegal drugs

THREE students from Davao City, who were on the illegal drug watch list, were arrested by authorities during separate entrapment operations last week.

The alleged illegal drug couriers were arrested during an anti-illegal drug campaign of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao region.

In the first drug bust conducted at around 10:30 p.m. on August 22, the personnel of Toril Police Station apprehended an illegal drug suspect at Bangkal Petron, Talomo District, Davao City.

The suspect was later identified as Seth Gabrielle Consuegra, 22, male, single, student and a resident of Block 37, Lot 2, South Villa Heights, Catalunan Grande, Davao City.

He was arrested for violating the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. He was caught in possession of marijuana with an estimated market value of P1,300.

Likewise, Boven Eyan Pajaron alias Mobin, 22, male, single, student, a resident of Purok 10, Barangay 76-A, Davao City and Kyle Vincent Fonte, 19 years old, male, single, student and a resident of Block 39, Lot 18, Phase 2, Deca Homes Tacunan, Davao City were also arrested by the authorities on the same day.

The two suspects were arrested by police officers of Sta. Ana Police Station at around 3:50 p.m. on the same day along Roxas Avenue, Barangay 23-D, Davao City for violation of RA 9165.

A police poseur buyer recovered an estimated 0.0500 grams of illegal drugs with a street value of P1,000.

PRO-Davao Regional Director Marcel Morales, meanwhile, urged the parents of students to monitor the activities of their children to prevent them from being involved in illegal drugs.

“I want you to be watchful of your children. They might not just be a drug user, but a drug courier too. Rest assured that we will conduct more drug awareness seminars regularly in schools in the city especially since the targets of those in the illegal drugs business as their drug couriers were becoming younger," he said.
