Riding-in-tandem suspect arrested

OPERATIVES from Police Station 4 arrested one of the riding-in-tandem suspects after falling from a motorcycle in Barangay 26, Bacolod City, Friday evening, August 23.

Police identified the suspect as Tyron Barena, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Rondyl Tapang, chief of Police Station 4, said they were conducting an Oplan Sita along Galo Street in Barangay 26 at 11:30 p.m. when they flagged down Barena, who was on board a motorcycle with his unidentified companion, the motorcycle's driver.

Topang said the driver did not stop and tried to escape.

The policemen then chased them, until Barena fell on the road while the driver of the motorcycle managed to escape.

Recovered from Barena's possession one backpack containing caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with five live ammunition, one extra magazine with five live ammunition of caliber .45 pistol, and four improvised tooters.

The police are conducting further investigation to check the background of the suspect, who is detained at Police Station 4.

The suspect may be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, an estimated P40,500 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized by operatives of Police Station 4 in a drug bust in Purok Pag-asa, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City on Saturday, August 24.

The operation also led to the arrest of Marlon Treyes, 34, of Barangay Estefania.

Tapang said Treyes was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at 4:50 p.m.

Police recovered from Treyes's possession five sachets of shabu, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

Treyes, who is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4, was included in the drug watchlist of the station.
