HOW do you influence other moms to breastfeed their child?

If you are a breastfeeding mom, you can relate to how moms feel safe and secured with their own breastmilk as the main source of food for their baby. One of the simplest ways to influence other moms is to simply post your breastfeeding photos on your social media accounts. You might think it is just a piece of remembrance, but it will really create an impact to other moms.

One of my colleagues in Davao Mommy Bloggers, Tricia Mae Lim of LactoMom, has another breastfeeding story to tell.

Most moms know her because of her lactation cookies (check her IG @lactomom) which have helped many moms in the country. She doesn’t mind the distance because her advocacy is to help other moms produce more milk for babies.

But as her network and connection grow, she thought of putting up a physical store so moms “can access it anytime without the hassle of meet ups and time issues.” Hence, the birth of the only lactation bakery in the Philippines — Lacto Mom and Baby Bakery, which is located at Edsa St. Tahimik Ave. Matina, Davao City.

“My thriving then home-based business has three employees, I want them to feel special by making their own workplace. I want them to feel empowered since they are single parents,” she said.

Mommy Tricia has a strong advocacy for breastfeeding. She also does home visits for breastfeeding counseling with no charge. She wants to correct the myths and dismiss all judgments.

“The situation here in Davao City has a lot of areas for improvement. Not all moms are empowered to breastfeed because the people around them are either unsupportive or misinformed,” Tricia said.

That is why I try my best to spread breastfeeding facts online and offline so that anyone can encourage breastfeeding as it is natural. I urge everyone to keep an open mind and learn by reading testimonials and studies regarding breastfeeding,” she added.

Keep up the good work, “breastfriend” Tricia!
