AFTER making their presence felt in the recently concluded Skate Asia 2019 in Thailand, the members of the Cebu Ice Skating Club Inc. will not rest on their laurels.
The Cebu figure skaters are now aiming to compete in the Battle of Championship Series set in January next year.
The Cebuano ice skaters recently made waves in the Skate Asia 2019 held in Thailand last Aug. 3 to 10, 2019, where they racked up a whopping 40 gold medals, 21 silvers medals and 15 bronze medals.
The winning figure skaters in the Skate Asia 2019 have qualified to the Battle of Championship Series.
“We, the parents, were happy with the results and thankful to all the coaches who have helped the skaters in every way. The kids are looking forward now to the Battle of Championship Series,” said Joanne Arriba-Padilla, one of the founders of the Cebu Ice Skating Club Inc.
She said the Cebu ice skaters have resumed their training at the SM Seaside City Cebu skating rink.
She said the team mentored by head coach Ireneo “Dodong” Awing and assistant coach Erwin Go in the Skate Asia 2019 was composed of 10 Cebu figure skaters and eight from Manila.
The medalists who have qualified in the Battle of Champions Series was Dominic Van Chua, Lloyd Formentera, Johanna Cristabelle Go, Jannine Cristabelle Go, Danica Denise Chua, Maurelle Paredes, Leanne Hailey Go, Franz Cameron Tadena, Kaila Kamila Padilla and Tatiana Dominique Sanchez.
The team competed against 11 countries in the week-long competition. (RSC)
